Welcome to Irchester!

The staff and governors at Irchester Community Primary School are committed to providing the highest quality of education and care for every child in our school. We believe this is best achieved through creating an open and positive partnership between home and school.

Through working together, we are able to provide the personalised learning experiences required to ensure every child is happy, successful and can develop to the best of their ability. Our dedicated Outdoor Learning Area provides opportunities to explore learning in different ways, allowing our children to access a range of curriculum enhancements. Our philosophy is that; ‘happy children really do learn best!’

We are dedicated to promoting children’s mental health and wellbeing and offer a range of opportunities for the children to develop their recognition of their emotions and how to cope with them. Self-regulation is incredibly important and allows the children to manage their emotions. As a result, techniques are explicitly taught and the children (and staff) practise these regularly throughout the week.

Our School Values are at the heart of everything we do, and we promote these in a variety of ways. We teach the children the 5 values of Respect, Collaboration, Ambition, Pride and Resilience throughout our curriculum and beyond the classroom, into our playtimes and lunchtimes. The school council support the running of the system across the school, including the choice of rewards when the values are being shown consistently, ensuring it is part of the school culture.

Our unique and dedicated Science Lab (Lab 13), offers a range of experiences for the children where we encourage them to not only learn Science but to become Scientists, promoting learning through discovery. The lab hosts our very own Resident Scientist and is managed by the pupils, for them to devise experiments driven by their curiosity and imagination. We are a centre of excellence for primary science; providing training opportunities for local teachers and workshops for children both in the Lab or in local schools.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our website, we really are proud of our school and we hope you like it as much as we do!
