On Tuesday 18th June, Year 6 visited The Chester House Estate as part of their Romans unit of work. During this trip, students engaged in various archaeological activities, such as field walking, documenting findings, and analysing artefacts. They also learnt about essential excavation techniques, recording observations, and gained insight into the processes involved in uncovering and interpreting historical remains. Students were given the rare opportunity to wash newly excavated artefacts discovered that day ready for university students to investigate and analyse. One student said, “It was interesting to watch the archaeologists at work as they used lots of different tools and we got to see a horse skeleton being dug up!”
